There is an image forever planted in my mind of my mom any time groovy music came on, she would proceed to move and groove to the music. No one can dance while driving like Mom could. There was a free, happy spirit about her that was wild and mysterious. I guess that explains why she married my Cowboy Dad. 😂 🐴
That same spunk to just dance at the sound of any music is in me. I don’t always yield to it and that is what this blog is about.
It’s like that old country song, “I Hope You’ll Dance!” I guess that’s what is on my heart for today’s blog. I hope you’ll dance. But first we need to see why we don’t when the opportunity presents itself. In the car when just the right music comes on or at a wedding when we know we wanta!
What holds us back? What quiets our wild? Why don’t we just go with it and enjoy life more?
fill in the blank
Leading motivational speakers and life coaches say that if you simply change your state, you can change your mood. Have you ever stayed home from work fighting the crud and in bed all morning. But when you got up and made yourself take a shower and maybe go to the kitchen or living room, even just that made you feel at least a little bit better? Of course depending on how sick you are, nothing is better for you than rest. But sometimes the best thing for us is movement. Could it be that we should dance whether we feel like it or not when we get in the car and some great music comes on? I double dog dare you to try it today! 💃 🚘
When we are in a funk or having a bad day, happy would be the last word we would use to describe ourselves, right?! But happy means enjoying joy. There is all the joy we need in God’s presence and enough to overflow on all those around us!
And God gives us all things richly to enjoy according to scripture. So we can make a conscious effort, a choice to enjoy the joy of the Lord that He lavishes on us when we are with Him.
So get in His presence, crank up the music and let your happy dance move you right out of the funk and into a little bit of fun!
I hope to hear about all your happy dancing this week on social media! If you get really brave, video yourself or take a selfie and tag us on So-Me
