The pressure’s on to get to all 4 or 40 of your church’s Easter services. Gotta get the right outfit, decorate the door, prep for the big Easter meal for the whole family. So much excitement, work, and endless to do’s until BAM! It’s done. It’s over. It. Is. Finished. Now what?!
Did I just give you flashbacks from the weekend ? LOL
Good Friday represents Jesus being buried and dying in our place. And represents all the darkness we had in our lives before Christ or if you are without Christ, the darkness you are still in. Hold on! There’s hope....Easter represents Him raising from the dead conquering death, hell, and the grace for us! It means Jesus bore our sin, sickness, and stress, our poverty and our loss so we can live a life filled with abundance and joy and health and peace!
Ok, that’s all wonderful but WHAT NOW? How? Here’s how..... it’s one thing to have something. It’s a whole other thing to appropriate it and to use it! I may have a lock on my door but if I don’t lock the door, I’m open for being robbed. I may have 100% of what I earned on my last paycheck but if I don’t tithe 10%, save appropriately, pay my bills, & enjoy a little in that order, my financial life is going to be jacked up. I may have the capacity to have great relationships, but if I pop off at the mouth with everything I think, my relationships will tank. I may have a car but if I don’t get in it and drive it somewhere, I’m not going to get where I want to be!
Same thing with all these Easter eggs, the bunny, the family pics, the 50,000 church services, the perfect dress, and all our to-do’s and Oooohhhhhh the actual whole deal ——- Jesus died on the cross for our sins, sickness, stress, & financial distress. If we don’t use the name of Jesus like He said to do, we will live a powerless life which is a mockery to all He went through for us!!! If we don’t yield to peace instead of stress, joy instead of depression, kindness instead of anger, then we are not partaking of the fruit He gave us so liberally, generously, and sacrificially so we can enjoy this life! Each time we don’t appropriate the fruit of the spirit that was shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit when we were born again, we just did all that Easter stuff for what?!?! Just for the doing. When you think of all the hype, of all the stuff that comes with Easter, think WHAT NOW?! What now is live out the VICTORIOUS LIFE Jesus did all that for us to live! Live it up! LOVE LIMITLESSLY, LIVE in the LIGHT! Stop stumbling from here to there in the darkness and STAY in the Word! Let it guide you day in and day out. Don’t waste all that Jesus went through for us! We would not want to waste a gift someone gave us and just the same, don’t waste love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, & self control.
